"Verso L'Alto"

- Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati

Translated literally from the Italian, "verso l'alto" simply means "to the top" or "towards the heights." The phrase comes from an iconic picture of Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati as he is scaling the side of a cliff. Frassati had scribbled the phrase on the picture after it had been printed by a friend.

Metaphorically, however, the phrase means, "orient your entire life toward God." In all that you do, in all that you are, seek the path that leads you to God. Blessed Pier Giorgio is a beautiful witness to living out this mantra.

Our earthly pilgrimage is exactly that. An all-consuming climb to reach the heavens, to be one with God in our final resting. So let's seek the path, encounter the sacred on that path, and share the story so that others may join us.

Our Philosophy

OUR MISSION

To provide opportunities to seek the path, encounter the sacred, and share stories in order to transform the world for Christ.

OUR CORE VALUES

  • Intentionality - Everything should be done with purpose, intention, and care. Sometimes it's the little things in life that make all the difference. We know that each particular person that we touch has his or her own story - his or her own challenges, joys, sufferings, beauty. Everything we do has the unique individuals we serve in mind.

  • Contemplation - The world is alive with a deep richness that sometimes can only be accessed through quiet, stillness, and contemplation. We believe in taking life one step at a time, truly valuing each moment for what it is. That's why our pilgrimages are marked by a contemplative pace. While it's hard to resist the urge to always go, go, go; we believe it's better to take your time and dive deeper into life's richness.

  • Innovation - At Verso Ministries, we treasure the "both/and approach." Our faith teaches us that Jesus is both human and divine, that the Kingdom of God is already here and not yet, that you can say mass in Latin and in the vernacular. So why can't pilgrimages be both prayerful and fun, sacred and profane, a one-time event and a lifetime? We constantly strive to creatively tackle anything that comes our way.
