Journey with us to Bardstown, Kentucky. We’ll explore the early roots of Catholicism in the midwest, visit the proto-Cathedral, Abbey Gethsemani and the hermitage of Thomas Merton, take a tasting tour at a bourbon distillery, and visit a church in Louisville where two Italian Saints are buried.

The pilgrimage will depart from the Catholic Center (1400 N. Meridian St.) where we will be able to park our cars overnight.

Friday, July 20

  • 4:30pm - Depart Catholic Center for Bardstown. Snacks and drinks on bus
  • 7:30pm - Arrive in Bardstown for dinner
  • 9pm - Bardstown proto-Cathedral tour & night prayer
  • Overnight at the General Nelson Inn, Bardstown

Saturday, July 21

  • Breakfast at the Inn
  • 8am - Depart for Abbey Gethsemani.
  • 8:30am - Brother Gregory talk and tour of Thomas Merton's Hermitage
  • 9:30am - Personal time for prayer, exploring, giftshop
  • 12:15pm - Midday prayer with the monks
  • 1pm - Depart for Louisville, Bulleit Distillery
  • 2:15pm - Bulleit Distillery tour and free time
  • 3:30pm - Depart for St. Martin of Tours Church
  • 4pm - Saturday Vigil Mass at St. Martin of Tours Church (Shrine of Sts. Magnus & Bosona)
  • 5pm - Tour and free time at St. Martin
  • 6pm - Depart for Indianapolis, dinner along the way
  • 9pm - Arrive at Catholic Center


Cost of the pilgrimage is $110 per person.

Pilgrimage package includes:
