A pilgrimage to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Blessed Basil Moreau's Beatification.

HIGHLIGHTS

 

Dates of this pilgrimage are:
September 14-23, 2017 - 10 Days/9 Nights

  • Join in 10th Anniversary of Blessed Basil Moreau's Beatification events in Le Mans, France
  • Learn about the roots of the Congregation of Holy Cross
  • Visit the birthplaces of Blessed Basil Moreau (founder of the Congregation of Holy Cross) and Fr. Edward Sorin (founder of the University of Notre Dame)
  • Enjoy pilgrimage sites in Lisieux, Chartres, and Paris

SCHEDULE

 

Days 1-5:  Arrival and Le Mans

  • Participate in the 10th Anniversary events in Le Mans
  • Visit the Shrine of Blessed Basil Moreau and pray at the tomb of Fr. Moreau
  • Spend time at the Solitude of the Savior - home to the Sisters of the Holy Cross and where Fr. Moreau frequented
  • Walk through the Old City of Le Mans, including the Cathedral of St. Julian
  • Visit Laigné-en-Belin (hometown of Fr. Moreau) and Ahuillé (hometown of Fr. Edward Sorin)

Days 6-7:  Lisieux and Chartres

  • Explore the town of Lisieux, with stops at the Basilica of St. Thérèse and the Carmel of Lisieux
  • Enjoy a day in Chartres, with a tour of the famous Chartres Cathedral and evening dinner at a local, French restaurant

Days 8-10:  Paris and Return

  • Make a pilgrimage through the streets of Paris, with visits to:
    • Notre-Dame Cathedral
    • Saint-Sulpice Church
    • Miraculous Medal Chapel
    • Saint Vincent de Paul Church
    • Sacré-Coeur and the Montmartre neighborhood
  • Also have some free time in Paris to explore the city on your own
    • 3 optional excursions on this day (Day 9) are also provided ($75 per person additional fee). Each pilgrim is welcome to choose one of the following options (or none if they wish to tour on their own):
      • City Tour (approximately 4 hours) - A walking tour of Paris with visits to several, main sights in the city. Tour includes the Ile de la Cité and its flower market, the medieval kings’ palace, the River Seine, Paris’ oldest bridge, the new pyramid at the Louvre, the Tuileries gardens, the fateful place de la Concorde where the guillotine stood, the Avenue des Champs Elysées, the Arc de Triomphe and the viewing stage for the Eiffel Tower at Place du Trocadero.
      • Tour of the Louvre (approximate 2.5 hours) - Private, guided tour which includes museum admission. This tour highlights the fabulous collection of the Louvre Museum, guiding you through this vast and beautiful building to see world famous masterpieces of sculpture and painting. And of course, the Mona Lisa!
      • Tour of the Musée d'Orsay (approximately 2.5 hours) - Private, guided tour which includes museum admission. This world famous museum celebrates the Impressionists and those who captured the modern life of their day. Enjoy iconic works by Monet, Manet, Renoir, Degas, Van Gogh, Rodin, Carpeaux, and Lautrec.
      • Each pilgrim may elect to include 1 of these 3 optional excursions during registration. The optional excursions can also be added at a later date, if you are unsure of which one you would like to select at this time.

The group will gather at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 14 to depart from South Bend for Chicago O'Hare International Airport.
The group will arrive back in South Bend at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 23. Pilgrims can elect to travel on their own to/from Chicago O'Hare airport, if they wish.

Pilgrims should anticipate a moderate level of walking, and there will be occasional walking on rough, uneven pavement.

Space is limited to 40 participants.

Pilgrimage package includes:

  • Pilgrimage preparation and follow-up materials (learn about the history of Holy Cross, Moreau, Sorin, and French Catholicism)
  • Dedicated pilgrimage guides who will accompany the group
  • Daily Mass, prayer, and reflection time
  • All events, activities, and donations (except for the optional Paris excursions)
  • Round-trip, economy-class airfare from Chicago to Paris
  • Ground transportation from South Bend to Chicago O'Hare
  • Ground transportation while in France
    • Private coach bus for Days 1-7, Metro tickets provided for Days 8-10.
  • Meals - Breakfast provided each day at lodging (except for travel days) and most dinners
  • Lodging in 4-star hotels

Pilgrimage does not include:

  • Paris optional excursion (City Tour, Louvre, or Orsay)
  • Some meals (about 1 per day) and drinks at meals
  • Any personal purchases
  • Recommended travel insurance (optional add-on)
  • Gratuities for guides and drivers
  • Passport or visa fees

Cost of this pilgrimage is $3,699 per person.

Save $100 - Sign up by June 10 for only $3,599!

A limited amount of single-occupancy rooms are available for a $799 single-occupancy supplement fee.

How do I register?

  • Register online now!
    • For your convenience, registration can be made online and the $300 deposit can be made with a credit card or electronic bank transfer.

Payment Schedule:

  • Deposit - $300 due upon registration
  • Final balance - Due by July 3, 2017
    • A final invoice will be emailed in mid-June, at which point the final balance may be paid by electronic bank transfer, check, or money order.
    • Late payments (after July 3) may be subject to a $150 late fee.

How do I pay?

  • During registration, the $300 deposit can be paid online with a credit card or electronic bank transfer.
  • The final balance may be paid check, money order, or electronic bank transfer for no fee. If you wish to pay the remaining balance by credit card, a 3.5% payment processing fee will be added to the final balance. Checks and money orders can be made payable to "Verso Ministries LLC".

Registration is open until filled. If space is still available, registrations may be made at any time, with a priority registration period lasting until July 3.

Late registrations made after July 3 must be paid in full and include the $150 late fee.  Registrations made after July 3 also may be subject to an alternate pilgrimage cost depending on flight availability. Please contact us directly if you have any questions.

What is your cancellation policy?

The $300 pilgrimage deposit is non-refundable. Cancellations are possible at any time, but refunds are subject to cancellation fees at the rates listed here.

  • Cancellation 91 days or more from departure: $300
  • 90-15 days prior to departure: $500
  • 14-7 days prior to departure: $1000
  • 6 days or less no refund will be given.

Any cancellation charges incurred from other supplies or vendors (flight, lodging, ground transportation,
etc.) may come in addition to the administrative fees listed above. Specifically, once airline tickets have been issued (on July 17), 100% of the flight cost is non-refundable, in addition to the administrative fee listed above.
